Volar Video Launches Disruptive New Broadcast and Streaming Technology

Volar Video, a Lexington, Ky.-based leader in online video production, recently launched an innovative digital broadcasting platform that enables colleges to monetize the live streaming of events.

Using Volar Video's proprietary software, organizations can capture revenue from previously underleveraged sporting events by enabling geo-targeted advertising through the deployment of mid-roll advertising insertions in their webcasts.

The company, headed by an experienced leadership team with decades of college sports experience, evolved from iHigh.com, a leader in online high school sports video broadcasting.

"Volar Video not only provides colleges with a cost effective way to live stream events in high-definition, but more importantly, it affords an avenue to monetize the process," said Jim Host, Chairman of Volar Video. "By using our proprietary solution, colleges can easily and cost-effectively connect with audiences no matter their location or their preferred viewing platform."

The new software also allows for seamless multi-camera switching and full custom graphics. The software allows customers to embed the video steam into custom or existing websites, and users can view on desktops, tablets or mobile devices.

The company recently announced it signed the Mountain West Conference as its first major conference to employ the solution. Volar Video has also reached an agreement with Kentucky Speedway.

The company is initially targeting college athletic conferences and colleges' athletics departments for licenses. But, the software can be employed by any group interested in streaming long-form events.

"While we are initially targeting colleges, this solution will have a broad application for any company or organization interested in live streaming long-form events," Host said. "We believe this application has the opportunity to revolutionize how organizations stream events and how users view them."

Volar Video, a privately-held company, was founded in 2012 and has offices in Lexington and New York. The company is headed by Host, former chairman and CEO of Host Communications, which he founded in 1972 and became a subsidiary of IMG in 2007.
