Home Park Residents Clean Up The Neighborhood

"The event was very successful and moved us one giant step forward in building a more cohesive and caring community." - Jim Anderson, Home Park resident

Home Park neighborhood residents and volunteers gathered this past Saturday for a clean up session that resulted in two dumpsters being filled with debris.

“It is with heartfelt appreciation that I reach out to you and express my gratitude for your volunteer effort to help clean the sidewalks of Home Park,’’ wrote Jim Anderson, Home Park resident and Home Park Community Improvement Association member, in an email to those who participated.

“I observed many neighbors getting to know each other in a very positive way. The event was very successful and moved us one giant step forward in building a more cohesive and caring community.”

Home Park is a 100-plus-year-old neighborhood with a residential core and a diverse mix that includes restaurants, retail, galleries and professional offices. It is bordered on the north by Atlantic Station, on the east by the Downtown I-75/85 connector and Midtown, on the west by the Marietta Street corridor and on the south by Georgia Tech.

Lacey Passman, the operations manager from Grace Midtown Church located at 1095 State Street, was instrumental in helping round-up non-Home Park resident volunteers, while a couple of nearby restaurants also contributed to the event’s success.

“We would also like to thank Aldo Ramirez, owner of the Crazy Cuban sandwich shop on 14th Street, for his very generous contribution of delicious Cuban sandwiches for our volunteers,” wrote Anderson. “I also thank Isaac Pryor at on 10th Street who provided great service and a helpful discount on the pizzas for the volunteers.”
