Donate blood and support your favorite college team.

Would you bleed for Georgia Tech?

Now's your chance.

This week, the is sponsoring an inaugural event called "Rivals on the Field – Partners in the Community" Blood Drive Challenge. 

From Nov. 14 through 17, students and fans of Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia are asked to give blood to see who can bring in the most donations.

“Georgia and Georgia Tech fans are very loyal when it comes to supporting their teams,” Mario Sedlock, director of donor services for American Red Cross, Southern Blood Services Region, said in a release. “With the Thanksgiving holidays approaching, it is our hope that fans will also support our lifesaving mission to provide blood for area hospital patients.”

Here are the locations in Midtown to donate blood:

  • Nov. 15, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- Georgia Tech Student Success Center
  • Nov. 14 through 17 -- American Red Cross, 1955 Monroe Drive

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and cannot have donated blood within the last 56 days.

Participants receive a commemorative t-shirt provided by the drive’s sponsors BP, am/pm and Coke Zero. The winner of the blood drive challenge will be announced Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Georgia Tech vs. University of Georgia football game in Atlanta.
