The Dream Makers Youth Foundation is still seeking volunteers to help staff concession stands at the PGA Tour Championship scheduled for Sept. 19th through Sept. 23rd at the East Lake Golf Club.
Dream Makers is a Smyrna-based non-profit that provides educational and recreational activities for kids with cognitive disabilities across metro Atlanta.
For every DMYF volunteer who completes a full shift, a percentage of the concession stand earnings made throughout the entire tournament, will be donated to the organization.
Proceeds will help with the general operations and help cover the costs of Dream Makers' programs and events, which includes the S.T.A.R.S. Adaptive Tennis and Basketball Programs for children with special needs.
The monies raised through concessions also will be used to fund tutorial services, host family movie nights and recruit speakers to discuss topics relevant to families with special needs children.
All are done free of charge to the children and their families.
Volunteers are needed for the following shifts:
- Wednesday 9/19: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (6 volunteers) & 11 a.m. – close (6 volunteers)
- Thursday 9/20: 11 a.m. – close (20 volunteers)
- Friday 9/21: 11 a.m. – close (22 volunteers)
- Saturday 9/22: 11 a.m. – close (22 volunteers)
- Sunday 9/23: 11 a.m. – close (22 volunteers)
Volunteers must wear dress pants, a white shirt, and comfortable shoes. They will be picked up and dropped off via shuttle buses from Turner Field, where volunteers can park free of charge. Shifts are typically six hours long and in exchange for their time, volunteers will be given one meal ticket per shift worked; they also will be offered discount tickets to Dream Makers’ Casino Night & Auction, scheduled for Nov. 17.
