Atlanta Streets Alive Will Roll Thru Midtown This Weekend

'Atlanta Streets Alive' event in Midtown will transform the city's signature street into a safe place for people to bike, walk, run, dance and skate for fun, fitness and transportation.

The vision of Atlanta Streets Alive continues to encourage Atlanta to develop living streets — streets that appeal to pedestrians, bikers, businesses and neighbors.

With the success of Atlanta Streets Alive last May on Peachtree Street, Atlanta Streets Alive will return to Peachtree Street on September 8, 2013 with an even more expansive and interactive route and more human-powered amusement. There will be three beer gardens along the route, a rock climbing wall, a “Pimp my Bike” station provided by MODA, and even a pop-up park.

Streets are publicly owned assets but on most days are used mainly by cars. On Sunday, people will regain ownership of Peachtree Street — which they pay taxes to build and maintain — and transform it into a crazy fun, healthy, living street for all to enjoy.
