The new 'Choose ATL' campaign brands city as entrepreneurial and digital powerhouse.

Staff Report

Invest Atlanta, the official economic development authority for the City of Atlanta, has been promoting the city as the go-to spot for entrepreneurs and innovators.

Now, a new campaign called Choose ATL looks to help cement Atlanta’s place as the nation’s digital hub. The campaign tells Atlanta’s untold story as well as showcases why it’s a great place to live, grow, share ideas and build the world’s best organizations.

Influencers from Atlanta’s leading businesses, professional organizations, start-ups and local government came together to bring this concept to life. The campaign’s centerpiece is the Choose ATL website. The site includes an inspirational video (included with this article) to create excitement and build a sense of pride among Atlantans.

“We are really excited to be a part of this initiative,” Invest Atlanta President and CEO Brian P. McGowan said in a press release. “Atlanta has such a great history of entrepreneurship and innovation and has built an ecosystem that has helped entrepreneurs like Sarah Blakely and Tyler Perry grow billion dollar enterprises.”

Atlanta is a tree-lined city with an incredibly diverse population, experiencing an unprecedented period of growth. The city is an educational powerhouse, a cultural hub and home to a number of powerful companies – from innovative start-ups to Fortune 500 brands. Atlanta has a low cost of living and is a true breeding ground for new talent – being home to more than 60 major universities, including Emory University and Georgia Tech.

“In Atlanta, we not only welcome innovation, we actively nurture it,” said Mayor Kasim Reed in the release. “More than any other city, we offer incomparable resources to realize potential and great ideas set forth by forward-thinking individuals and businesses.”

Invest Atlanta has worked hard to reach out to startups. For example, during the past year, Invest Atlanta incubated Startup Atlanta, an umbrella organization providing support and networking opportunities to technology startups. Dr. Eloisa Klementich, managing director of business development, serves as Startup Atlanta’s board chair.

“Atlanta is full of inspiring startup stories,” Klementich said. “We love working with passionate, bright entrepreneurs to help them tap into the resources available so they can grow their businesses, creating even more wealth and job opportunities in the City.”
