Atlanta Fire Rescue's Fire Station 23 services the area between Peachtree Battle and Georgia Tech University. The station was constructed in 1948 and once almost shut down, said a lieutenant at the station. Residents fought to keep the station open. Fire Station 23 answers between 15 and 20 calls a day and provides the community with services such as blood pressure monitoring.
