The Midtown Mini Precinct supports Zone 5 of the Atlanta Police Department. Officers patrol the Peachtree Street corridor, from 6th Street to Beverly Road, east to Monroe Drive and west to about Northside Drive, said Sergeant D.J. McGinnis. Officers answer more than 1,000 calls in an average month, said the sergeant. The mini precinct is located on the first floor of the former W.W. Orr doctors building, next to Emory University Hospital Midtown. The hospital donated the space to the police department. The precinct houses police bicycles and two Segways for patrols. The facility includes a computer station, a kitchen and a few offices. The public can visit the precinct to report crimes, but it's asked only to call or visit in non-emergency situations.
