You can start with my blog "Good Things Happening" at Grady High School---it's publishedRead More on the Midtown Patch. It'll take too much effort to 'splain the rest of my previous comment in language even you could understand. Have a good evening!

What is horrific, is that we are just waiting around for the gangs to start shooting and then someRead More innocent bystander will be shot. This WILL happen. It is just a matter of time. I heard from a friend at soccer that a few months back a kid brought a bb gun on the bus ride home (so he had it all day long) and shot the bus driver, then 2 kids jumped out the bus windows when the driver yelled at the other kids to call the cops! Did anyone hear about that? Were parents on that bus route notified? Are those two kids at school? It is like parents need to call the news stations daily with a violence update, because APS isn't going to tell anyone. I cannot stress enough that there are DAILY fights and violent bullying. I truly believe that these problems would be eliminated by just eliminating a handful of kids. If they cannot act appropriately at school or in public, they are not welcome. And my plates clearly say Fulton county :)

Yuck. Feces continues to come from your mouth... I can agree with you that they should improveRead More their schools if they actually are in the wrong district (plates don't always match residency btw), but then you had to go and say despicable things. It's like you can't help yourself. Your family must have been in the KKK or something, maybe a few Nazis in your bloodline?! There is something that is just not quite right about you, since you have so much hate, anger, and malice. I'm actually quite surprised that someone like you with so much hate even lives in Atlanta. You seem more like a backwoods Alabama man. I'm surprised that you don't live deep deep in Gwinnett or that you don't work a few more jobs (as your parents did) to get your kid in a private school, or haven't decided to home school them.

As the school year comes to a close, it appears that not much has been done by APS or the communityRead More to address the concerns. Have any strategies been implemented to provide support to the students that have been marginalized? It is not surprising that the behaviors have escalated- developmentally, all adolescents are "pushing the limits" . Of course, this is manifested in a wide range of behaviors. Kids that don't have much structure or haven't experienced appropriate consequences will continue to push the limits. They want to feel the safety and security of boundaries. Let's not forget, we are talking about 11-13 year old CHILDREN so incarceration is not the answer. So, while the bureaucracy of APS continues to fail these students the dysfunction increases. The kids are talking about the latest incident that occurred over Spring Break. The 7th grade teachers, who have been dealing with a long list of challenges as a result of being in the trailers, came back from the break to find that their rooms were broken into and vandalized. There was some significant damage that included the destruction of musical instruments belonging to students. Apparently, it didn't take much to get into the trailer village. Screens were removed and windows opened to allow free access the the classrooms. Something to consider....How long will Inman continue to attract high-quality teachers when safety is an issue and student behavior problems are not being addressed?

Students at Grady High are encouraged to excel in academics, the arts, sports, and in citizenship.Read More They are proud of their school and work hard every day with the faculty and staff to maintain and grow the reputation of their school. They don't need to have comments made like yours which are unfounded and designed to inflame untrue perceptions. Thanks but no thanks for your posting, McDaniel.

Brian Nichols "lost it" because he is a thug, a loose cannon and a mental case. NotRead More because of some ill-perceived interpretation of being "disrespected". While I grant you the justice system failed twice, both to protect the public and to do its due diligence in prosecuting him for his crimes, it does not justify his actions and you are comparing (grossly I might add) apples and oranges to draw your analogy. To draw such a conclusion is rather obtuse, on your part, and an insult to the people he killed.
People are Crazy April 3, 2013 at 06:07 am
Agreed. It has never worked. It was the shuffle children through school uneducated instead.

We will see since they have been indicted. The EVIDENCE will be presented at trial and we will findRead More out if your outrageous theory stands up.

I went to see this play last night because that's what parents do when their kids have friends in aRead More play. But WOW, this is an amazing play...the singing, the tap dancing, even a live orchestra....worth seeing even if you know absolutely nobody there....and that's a high endorsement indeed. :)
