The Atlanta Community Food Bank is inside of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Warehouse is WestMore Atlanta. It was founded by Bill Bolling in 1979 and originally operated out of the basement of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Midtown. The food bank now provides food for more than 700 non-profit agencies. These agencies include food pantries, community kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and child care centers in Atlanta and other areas throughout North Georgia. It has an interactive website with helpful information about the various ways to donate and volunteer. Individuals and companies can make monetary donations online and walk-in food donations are accepted on-site during weekday hours. It also has volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups of up to 25 people. The Atlanta Community Food Bank sponsors and organizes events to raise money and awareness about hunger and nutrition. Information about the Hunger Walk/Run, Community Gardens, Kids in Need, and other annual community activities is posted on its website.

Ben Massell Dental Clinic has been serving the families of Atlanta at this location since 2008.  TheMore office is in an eco-friendly building equipped with the latest dental technology.

The clinic has partnered with the Jewish Family and Career Services organization to offer dental care by volunteer dentists for Atlanta residents whose incomes cannot afford dentistry. There is a waiting list, and all patients must be pre-approved by the clinic before an appointment can be made.

People of all races, creeds, cultures and religious beliefs are welcomed. The clinic provides free medication when available and has board-certified physicians on staff to offer patients quality medical services. It has been serving the greater Atlanta metropolitan community since 1999 and welcomes volunteers.
Atlanta Humane Society

Founded in 1873, the Atlanta Humane Society is the oldest nonprofit animal welfare organization in Atlanta. TheMore Atlanta Humane Society works to address pet overpopulation, help abused animals and encourage pet adoption.

The shelter is open seven days a week for adoptions and does not euthanize for time or space. The organization offers many assistance programs and services, including spaying and neutering, dog training, educational programs, pet boutique, grief counseling, animal admission and pet-facilitated therapy. 

The Atlanta Humane Society operates the Howell Mill Road Animal Wellness Clinic at 981 Howell Mill Rd. Wellness services are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Since the Atlanta Humane Society is funded through donations, volunteers are always need to assist operations.

The Atlanta Day Shelter is a refugue and support system for homeless women and children. The building and itsMore administrators provide a safe, welcoming and professional environment. The shelter began in Atlanta in 1894 at a time when there were only night shelters and the only day shelters were for men. There is no residency in this shelter. Administrators keep a record of who is visiting and offer many programs to help the women become self-reliant. Through the Job Readiness Program, professional counselors, help from volunteers and corporate funding, most women gain a job that pays higher than minimum wage. The shelter has been at its current location since opening in 1984 and there is still room to serve more families in need.

The children’s garden has a water park area in the summer. For adult entertainment it has concerts, fall beer festivals and cocktails in the garden. The Atlanta Botanical Garden creates family events, exhibits, and activities throughout the year like the Japanese Floral Show and Holidays in the Garden. Its website is very helpful and offers ways for the community to volunteer, donate and become members. The Atlanta Botanical Garden focuses on research and education, in addition to entertainment. It has a botanical and a conservation library and information center. A café is open in the garden during regular hours.
