The academy provides a hands-on opportunity to educate Atlanta residents on the operations of the APD, while obtaining valuable feedback from citizens to enhance police and community relations.

Staff Report The Atlanta Police Department is seeking participants for its Citizens Police Academy that will begin in mid-April. The academy will include more than 30 hours of instruction and participation requires a commitment of three hours, one night a week, for seven weeks. The training includes classroom courses in crime scenes, a department overview and a zone ride-along. Classes will be held every Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning April 18th.
