Friday morning incident the most recent violent crime reported outside the homeless shelter located just south of Midtown.
A man who told police that he was a Poncey-Highland resident told investigators that was stabbed four times by another man during an early Friday morning incident outside the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter just south of Midtown. According to the Atlanta police report, an altercation ensued outside the shelter near the intersection of Peachtree and Pine streets around 3:30 a.m. The suspect told the victim he owed him $60 and not long after began hitting the victim. When the 33-year-old victim began to fight back, the suspect allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim four times, including once to the left side of his neck and arm. Atlanta Police have apprehended a pair of suspects accused of being involved in five pedestrian armed robberies Thursday morning, including three in the Midtown area.
The Atlanta Police Department announced late Friday afternoon that it has made two arrests in connection with Thursday’s pre-dawn spree of armed pedestrian robberies, including three bordering the Ansley Park and Midtown neighborhoods. According to Atlanta Police Officer Carlos Campos, the two suspects, whose names have not been released, were in the process of being charged with five counts of Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Love was certainly not in the Valentine's Day air after a string of pre-dawn armed pedestrian robberies around the Ansley Park and Midtown neighborhoods early Thursday morning. According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a call at 1280 Peachtree Street where a male victim stated that he had been robbed by several black males near the intersection of Peachtree and 12th streets. Hours before a high-profile R&B singer was the victim of a carjacking Tuesday night on Spring Street, a Midtown Neighborhood resident found himself being carjacked, too, - in his own driveway in broad daylight. About eight hours before R&B singer Bobby V. was stopped by two men and robbed of his red 2013 Bentley in a Midtown parking lot, two men sped off in a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C23 that belonged to a local resident who had just returned home with his pets from a trip to the vet. Victim allegedly punched and robbed of money by fare passenger, then has front teeth knocked out during attack by several males after he exited his vehicle to retrieve his money from the suspect.
A taxi cab driver was assaulted by several men and robbed this week after dropping off a passenger near the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter just south of Midtown. According to the narrative reported by the Atlanta police officer on the scene, the driver suffered lost front teeth and other facial injuries during the incident in which he was robbed by a single passenger, and later “attacked by several males that were at the location” after exiting his taxi. According to the officer’s narrative, the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 in front of the shelter. Long-time thief made a habit of burglarizing homes in Midtown, Morningside and surrounding neighborhoods.
A serial burglar who has long committed crimes throughout area neighborhoods including Midtown, Ansley Park, Virginia-Highland and Morningside, was sentenced this week to 20 years behind bars according to Fulton County Senior Assistant District Attorney Tiffany Harlow. Harlow told members of the Neighborhood Planning Unit-E this week that because Charles Lee Echols, 54, assisted authorities in the investigation of other unsolved burglary crimes that he had committed in the area, he was able to plea bargain and the judge probated five of the 20 years sentence. Harlow said the career criminal was sentenced to an additional 10 years probation for the theft by taking felony acts. The probation period will begin when Echols is released from …

Three male suspects allegedly involved in incident that happened near a Tumlin Street driveway late at night
Atlanta police investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a trio of suspects reportedly involved in a recent armed robbery in the Home Park neighborhood. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4 on Tumlin Street near 14th Street. According to the police, a male and female reported that they pulled their vehicle into a driveway on Tumlin St. in order to turn around. As they exited the driveway, a gray colored Oldsmobile sedan allegedly blocked them in. Two of the three occupants in the suspect vehicle approached the victims' vehicle, where upon one of the suspects displayed a weapon and demanded the victims' belongings. "Man stabbed multiple times outside Peachtree-Pine shelter".....that headline explains why I would never volunteer at this shelter. That's not judging from afar....it isbeing concerned for my safety. At times there are literally 100 people hanging out on this street and harrassing everyone that passes by. When they get it under control, I will be more than happy to help.   more ›
