Jogger Robbed Near BeltLine Trail at Gunpoint

Two men accosted the victim and took her iPhone.

A woman on a morning jog was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday near the Atlanta BeltLine Trail behind the 900 block of Monroe Drive, Atlanta police said. And in what has been an all too common trend in Atlanta, the targeted prize was the victim's iPhone. The victim, 40, told police she was jogging south on Monroe and was headed toward the BeltLine at 11 a.m. She told police that as she jogged, she noticed two men off to the side, standing suspiciously. The jogger told police that she felt they were making moves to approach her, but she continued to jog. Once she ran past one of the men, the other male approached pulled his shirt to show a gun in the waistband of his pants and barked at her to hand over her items. He told her to remain calm, not …

Safety Meeting to Address Parkway Drive/Boulevard Corridor

APD Major Keith Meadows of Zone 6 and Major Christopher Leighty of Zone 5 will speak about recent trends in the immediate community.

In late 2011, the Atlanta Police Department finished redrawing the boundaries of its six police zones and one result was that Zone 5 -- which covers neighborhoods including Midtown, Ansley Park, Home Park, Georgia Tech and Atlantic Station – no longer includes the Old Fourth Ward and most of the south curb of Ponce de Leon Avenue. Those areas are now part of Zone 6, which means the Midtown Ponce Security Alliance (MPSA) is now working with two precincts instead of one to address the major issues affecting the Midtown area. On Monday, March 12, a special safety meeting will be held at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, located at 224 Ponce de Leon Ave., to introduce Major Keith Meadows of Zone 6 to the Midtown community. Major Christopher Leighty of Zone…

Do Late Nights Out In Atlanta Mean You Should Expect To Be Shot At, Beaten?

Couple attacked in Old Fourth Ward Friday leaving pizzeria.

A couple leaving Jack's Pizza in Old Fourth Ward at 2 a.m. Friday were shot at during a robbery. Neither the man, Jeff Gonzalez, nor his friend, were hit by the bullets the gunman fired at them, but the couple suffered cuts to his lip and her arm from shards of glass as gunfire hit their car, WSB-TV reported. Their cash, iPhones and the woman's purse were taken in the robbery. This couple's attack was followed by another attack of gay couple couple in Midtown who were beaten and robbed Sunday. Atlanta Police are investigating the incidents. No arrests have been made in either case.

Im the person that was robbed. Im also the person that spun my car around and ran that hooded piece of shit over, dragging his body over the sidewalk and all the way down the hill to Freedom Parkway. Sure I did a few thousand damage to my car, but well worth it to end his life. An 18 year old that points guns at people needs to be dead.   more ›
