Je suis ein Berliner: Georgia artist Walter Cumming displays his Paris-Berlin travel diary, "The Art of Reconciliation," through February at the Goethe Zentrum/Alliance Francaise in Colony Square.
Early last fall, Georgia artist Walter Cumming traveled by bike, foot and train between two former enemy cities, Berlin and Paris, and sketched and painted what he saw along the way. The fruit of this artistic diary, honoring 65 years of German-French friendship, went on display Friday evening at an opening reception and presentation that attracted a standing-room only crowd to Atlanta's German and French cultural center. The evening marked another anniversary, too. The Goethe Zentrum, aka German Cultural Center, and Alliance Francaise started sharing the same space in Colony Square on this date last year.
