Cassandra, The only part that is unpaved as of today is the entrance of the trail at Monroe. The rest is done and paved. Some of the landscaping is not done because it's not the right time to plant certain plants/trees. That will be done next spring. As far as why the entire trail is several months behind schedule, here is an older CL Beltline update. Look at the section "Why the delay" to see …   more ›

Prepare For Midtown Weekend Road Closures

Portions of 10th Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue will be closed to motorized vehicle traffic for much of the weekend

The weekend’s almost here, but with it will come significant road closures in and around the Midtown area. Soapbox racing down 10th Street and Atlanta BeltLine work along Ponce de Leon Avenue will leave area motorists looking for detours. After a three-year absence, the Red Bull Soapbox Race has rolled into town in anticipation for Saturday's big event down 10th next to Piedmont Park. Beginning Thursday, June 7, Midtown road closures will commence beginning with the street parking lanes on the east and west sides of Charles Allen Drive between 8th and 10th streets. Then on Friday, June 8 beginning at 9:30 a.m., 10th will start closing in gradual stages. First, it will shut down between Charles Allen and Myrtle Street after the morning rush…

BeltLine Project Will Close Part Of Ponce

Area of Ponce de Leon Avenue between the Midtown Place Shopping Center and Ponce de Leon Place affected for two weekends in June.

A portion of Ponce de Leon Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic two weekends in June for the Atlanta BeltLine's ongoing construction of the Eastside Trail project. Currently under construction, the Eastside Trail spans more than two miles from the southeast tip of Piedmont Park to Inman Park and the Old Fourth Ward neighborhoods. The project, which includes a 14-foot-wide, multi-use concrete trail that is to be used for walking, biking, running and skating, is the next major component of the Atlanta BeltLine slated to open to the public. The section of road between Ponce de Leon Place and the Midtown Place Shopping Center (across from Ponce City Market) will be closed from June 8 through 11 and again from June 15 through June 18. Portion of Ponce closed this weekend

BeltLine bridge work continues beginning Friday night. Also in Midtown, 12th Street between Peachtree Walk and Crescent Avenue will be closed Friday through Sunday for the installation of a tower crane.

Be ready to take alternate routes near Ponce City Market this weekend as a stretch of Ponce de Leon Avenue between Ponce de Leon Place and the Midtown Place shopping center being closed Friday at 9 p.m. through Monday March 26 at 5 a.m. The same portion of Ponce will be closed to traffic March 30 through April 1, too, as the Ponce de Leon Bridge is being remediated, retrofitted and repainted as part of the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail construction. All of the shops at Midtown Place will be open and accessible during this road closure. While the bridge is raised, crews will install decking and scaffolding to protect cars and pedestrians, remove old paint, prime the metal, and repaint it. Atlanta BeltLine: Eastside Trail Pictures

The Eastside Trail is currently in the bike path and landscaping construction phase.

As we reported Monday, construction along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail has caused a road closure today as a stretch of Ralph McGill Boulevard between Freedom Parkway and Ashley Avenue will be shut down for the next 30 days. Further BeltLine bridge work will lead to a second closure in about three weeks. That’s when a stretch of Ponce de Leon Avenue between Ponce de Leon Place and the Midtown Place shopping center will be closed from March 23 through 26 and again from March 30 through April 1. Yes, there will be some inconveniences along the way. But as these Eastside Trail pictures courtesy of Atlanta BeltLine and photographer Christopher T. Martin further demonstrate, the visionary project seeking to connect 45 city neighborhoods…

BeltLine construction to bring road closures

A stretch of Ralph McGill Boulevard is to be closed beginning on Wednesday, while a portion of Ponce de Leon Avenue near the Ponce de Leon Bridge will be closed in late March.

Staff Reports Eastside Trail construction continues on the Atlanta BeltLine and that will lead to a pair of upcoming road closures in the immediate area. The Eastside Trail project spans more than two miles from the tip of Piedmont Park to Inman Park and the Old Fourth Ward neighborhoods. The first closure comes this week as a stretch of Ralph McGill Boulevard between Freedom Parkway and Ashley Avenue (near Copenhill Lofts, Freedom Heights Lofts and Block Lofts) will be closed for 30 days beginning on Wednesday. This is because a new bridge over Ralph McGill Blvd. will be installed next to the old bridge that previously carried freight rail. According to BeltLine officials, drivers should anticipate only minor disruption, and appropriate …
