What's up Saturday in and around Midtown

Plenty to do and see this weekend

If from Midtown you take Boulevard to get to the interstate, note that on Saturday, July 21, the corridor between North and Angier avenues will be closed to motor vehicle traffic for about four hours for the “Year of Boulevard Back-to-School Block Party.” Atlanta City Councilmember Kwanza Hall invites children and families to gear up for the upcoming school year at the event that runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 30 city, county, and nonprofit agencies will be on hand to connect the families of the Boulevard corridor with local social services. To kick off the morning and to address a lack of beds in the community, the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta will deliver 100 beds to families from the corridor. They will also hand out backpacks…

Tens of Thousands Attend Red Bull Soapbox

Zany, fun-filled event packs Midtown Saturday afternoon

An estimated 40,000 fans lined both sides of 10th Street and packed into Piedmont Park for the Red Bull Soapbox Race on Saturday afternoon. The teams came from eight different states inclduing California, but The Nook on Piedmont Park, located at 1144 Piedmont Avenue, only had to travel a …

Pet Parade, ATL Paint Party, Atlanta Rollergirls & More Saturday Fun

It's not all about the Dogwood Festival on Saturday.

With the Dogwood Festival in full swing, hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate on Saturday. But there is a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday with temperatures expected to reach the low 70s. With the 76th annual festival expected to bring thousands to the Midtown area, traffic will be congested around Piedmont Park. Still, there are other options to fill your day. Maybe volunteering is on your Saturday planner. On Friday, Atlanta Gas Light held a successful volunteer effort in collecting trash along the south portion of the company’s adopted BeltLine segment in celebration of Earth Day. (See pictures with this article) And on Saturday, Comcast invites Atlanta to make a difference in the community by volunteering at the 11th annual Comcast…

The best way to make a positive difference is to just drop COMCAST! Their service is $LOPPY, over priced & the cable shows have way too many commercials. I'm quite happy with the FREE, OVER THE AIR, DIGITAL CHANNELS I RECEIVE.   more ›
