Colony Square's Trim a Tree Celebration Raises $2K for Bert’s Big Adventure

The charity fundraising event marked the close of a two-week contest in which 15 tenants of Colony Square decorated 18 trees.

Midtown's Colony Square raised more than $2,000 for Bert’s Big Adventure during its third-annual Trim a Tree for Charity Celebration last week. Once a year, Bert’s Big Adventure provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. The celebration marked the close of a two-week contest, in which 15 tenants of Colony Square decorated 18 trees. Participants were encouraged to get creative with their trees, and many sported a Disney theme to correlate with the concept of Bert’s Big Adventure. People were invited to vote for their favorite tree, with a $1 donation requested for each vote and no limit to the number of times a person could vote. The trees…

Colony Square's Trim-a-Tree Contest to Benefit Bert’s Big Adventure

Proceeds from holiday competition that began this week will help fund vacations for terminally ill kids.

Staff Report Colony Square's third annual Trim-a-Tree for Charity Contest kicked off this past Monday and will benefit Bert’s Big Adventure, a nonprofit started in 2002 by local radio personality, Bert Weiss, and his wife Stacey. Once a year, Bert’s Big Adventure provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.  Fifteen companies in Colony Square have decorated 18 trees for the team-building competition. Participants were encouraged to get creative with their trees, and many will have a Disney theme to correlate with the concept of Bert’s Big Adventure.  The decorated trees will be on display in the Food Court Atrium through Thursday, Dec. 13. …
