Dessert and coffeehouse shop will replace Buckhead location.
The planned Café Intermezzo at Midtown's 12th & Peachtree project could open as early as Monday. A spokeswoman for the popular dessert eatery would not confirm the opening date, but a handwritten note at the new spot projects a March 25 open. Café Intermezzo owner Brian Olson wanted to be in Midtown, because "Midtown is the heart of Atlanta right now and it's a great location," according to the eatery's marketing manager, Melissa Brown. Midtown's gain is Buckhead's loss. Café Intermezzo's Buckhead location, which opened in December of 1987, will close. Brown said the Buckhead location's last day of operation will be the night before the Midtown spot opens for business.

A pair of new restaurants are busy with construction and targeting autumn openings across the street from each other in Midtown.
There’s been much action at the intersection of Peachtree and 11th streets these days and that’s where we stop by for our Midtown Patch Picture of the Day. Occupying the northeast corner adjacent to Loews Atlanta Hotel, Café Intermezzo will soon bring its European flair to the $2 billion 12th & Midtown mixed-use development project on the Midtown Mile. It will replace the Brookwood location (1845 Peachtree Road) that has been open for almost 25 years. The Atlanta-based European coffeehouse is reported to be targeting a November opening. Café Intermezzo offers more than 100 different tortes, tarts, cakes, pies and cheesecakes; scores of coffee beverages and other beverages with and without alcohol. Brookwood location has been open for almost 25 years; 12th & Midtown locale set to open in November.
The 12th & Midtown development team officially announced Tuesday that Café Intermezzo will soon bring its European flair to the $2 billion mixed-use development project on the Midtown Mile. It had been reported by several media outlets last summer that Café Intermezzo was eyeing a Midtown location. Undisclosed until Tuesday was that the new Café Intermezzo locale will replace the Brookwood location that has been open for almost 25 years. The Atlanta-based European coffeehouse will close its Brookwood doors at 1845 Peachtree Road in November when it reopens at 12th & Midtown and joins STK, Asselina Cucina, Ri Ra Irish Pub, RA Sushi, Mi Cocina and Piola at the mixed-use development. My partner and I stopped there on opening day for coffee, wine and a bite to eat. The place looks great, and although they were still shaking out the kinks and the section off the sidewalk had ladders in there with workmen doing adjustments to the sound system I think, the place looks great.
