When it comes to hiring vets, Coke is 'The Real Thing'

With a salute to Veterans Day, the Coca-Cola Company welcomes more than 800 of our nation's heroes to the Midtown-based company that "refreshes the world."

For Midtown-headquartered Coca-Cola, Veterans Day this year is just a bit more special. In May, Coca-Cola Refreshments made a pledge to offer at least 800 job and career opportunities to military veterans in 2012. As of this week, that commitment has been surpassed, with 807 new members joining the Coca-Cola team from our armed services. Every year Coca-Cola associates pause to honor the veterans and members of the U.S. military who sacrifice to serve their country and protect our freedoms. Trio of Midtown Organizations Receive Coca-Cola Grants

The Coca-Cola Foundation awards $26 million to 85 global organizations during the first quarter of 2012

The Coca-Cola Foundation, the global philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company, announced Monday that it awarded $26 million in grants to 85 community organizations across the globe during the first quarter of 2012. And Midtown-based Coke kept some of the monies in the neighborhood by donating $175,000 in grants to a trio of Midtown based groups. A $100,000 grant to the National Black Arts Festival, located at 730 Peachtree Street, will support the 2012 Children's Education Village at the Festival in Centennial Park, which benefits more than 5,000 youth from summer camps across the southeast. Two grants to the Piedmont Park Conservancy ($20,000 and $30,000) will support the park's recycling program, general operations and upkeep of the …
