'Midtown Mile' activity as La Tagliatella makes United States debut

Flagship location of European-based Italian concept opens Wednesday at the Shops at Metropolis while nearby more businesses ready for opening.

These are busy days of late on the Midtown Mile near the corner of Peachtree and 8th streets where a trio of businesses have been preparing to open their doors. In fact, Midtown’s newest restaurant, La Tagliatella, opened for business on Wednesday marking the European-based Italian restaurant concept's first restaurant in the United States.  Serving lunch and dinner daily, La Tagliatella is located at the Shops at Metropolis at 919 Peachtree St. The company operates more than 130 restaurants across Europe and Asia, but Midtown is now home to the brand’s flagship in the U.S., with a second location set to open soon at Emory Point near Decatur. Just across the street on Tuesday, the owners of the new sandwich shop, Villains, were busy with …

La Tagliatella readies to open first U.S. restaurant on Midtown Mile

European concept opens first location in Atlanta this fall in the former Silk space at the Shops at Metropolis

A drive along the Midtown Mile on a gorgeous autumn day reveals continued work on what will soon be one of the area’s newest restaurants. Not only that, but La Tagliatella, a European-based Italian restaurant concept with more than 130 locations across Spain and France, will begin its first U.S. expansion plan with the opening of the flagship store in Midtown. It will be housed in the former Silk restaurant space at the Shops at Metropolis at 919 Peachtree St. Located on the highly visible pin corner at 8th St., the new eatery will showcase “traditional Italian recipes made with the highest quality ingredients.” After Atlanta-based real estate investment and management firm Jamestown announced last spring the restaurant's lease signing, …

I agree Thom. Unfortuantely Midtown Alliance, the Midtown MIle plan is pretty much a flop! The only thing that has survived has been restaurants. They need critical mass to support retailers and they need retailers to build critical mass. It seems to me that the landlords need to make the first move and subsidize rents in order to attract some retailers. The 1010 Daniel development is a good …   more ›

Café Intermezzo to close Brookwood location, reopen on Midtown Mile

Brookwood location has been open for almost 25 years; 12th & Midtown locale set to open in November.

The 12th & Midtown development team officially announced Tuesday that Café Intermezzo will soon bring its European flair to the $2 billion mixed-use development project on the Midtown Mile. It had been reported by several media outlets last summer that Café Intermezzo was eyeing a Midtown location. Undisclosed until Tuesday was that the new Café Intermezzo locale will replace the Brookwood location that has been open for almost 25 years. The Atlanta-based European coffeehouse will close its Brookwood doors at 1845 Peachtree Road in November when it reopens at 12th & Midtown and joins STK, Asselina Cucina, Ri Ra Irish Pub, RA Sushi, Mi Cocina and Piola at the mixed-use development.  "Café Intermezzo has long been considered a landmark …

I agree, the Brokwood location is the best out of all the locations. The charm of the building gives it a great atmosphere that makes you want to come back. Not very many places can replicate that feeling of comfort and intamicy. Bad decision to close that down, sorry to say.   more ›

Midtown Mile Shines Brighter

With the market slowing bouncing back from the prolonged recession, the economic light of prosperity truly could be ready to shine on the Mile.

The “Midtown Mile” is a tad brighter now after the boutique condo building 805 Peachtree officially flipped the switch on its new signage and exterior lighting on Monday night. Take a look at the pictures and tell us what you think? And with the Monday opening of a new restaurant, Cucina Asellina, following the December opening of STK, how are you feeling these days about the Midtown Mile and its future? The original goal for the Midtown Mile was to along Peachtree Street between the Woodruff Arts Center and North Avenue create a special high-end shopping district that would rival New York City’s Madison Avenue and Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. But that was conceived seven years ago or so, and last year, some of the city’s biggest in-town …

I believe that Cafe Intermezzo is still scheduled to move into 1010 later this year... plus, a tex-mex restaurant from Texas (can't remember the name) is also moving into one of the Peachtree storefronts at 1010 as well.   more ›
