New Restaurant Openings in Midtown

New tenant set to take over the Five Napkin Burger space at the corner of Piedmont and 10th

The former Five Napkin Burger space at the corner of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue in Midtown won't be vacant for long. After a 12-month run, Five Napkin Burger closed last month in the 990 Piedmont Ave. space that had previously been the longtime home of Nickiemoto’s. A source has confirmed to Patch that a gay-friendly establishment called "10" will serve food by day and become a bar by night and will soon open on the highly visable corner. It could offer a wide variety of entertainment during the evening including karaoke, bingo, charity events and more and a preview opening possibly could be staged as early as the annual Pride Festival next month. According to the source, the new owners are local but do have out-of-town financial …

Midtown Welcomes New Grocery Shop

Mamanoes comes to the heart of Midtown via Alabama.

Midtown’s newest grocery store is open and ready for business. Only it’s not exactly a grocery store. “We’re a grocery shop,” explained Mamanoes Grocery Shop owner Antonio Boyd. “The difference is that if we don’t have it we can get it. How fast can I get it? Probably the next day if it’s within reason.” Boyd opened Mamanoes the Friday before Labor Day in the former Jocks & Jills Sports Grill space at the intersection of 10th and Peachtree Streets. The boutique grocer marks the second locale after Boyd opened the first Mamanoes in Birmingham two years ago. What can you find at Mamanoes? A little bit of everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to sliced meats to home essentials to dairy and frozen foods to fresh sandwiches and salads and…

Spot-on comments. It would behoove the owner to consult some locals or professionals on where he needs to position this store in order for it to not only survive, but thrive. There are so many local Atlanta/Georgia products that are hard to find outside of maybe Whole Foods (Monday Night brewery, Springer Mountain Farms, High Road Craft ice cream, Atlanta Underground Market products, etc. the …   more ›

What Should Go Here? Former Midtown Sub Sandwich Shops

Firehouse Subs on the Midtown Mile and Jersey Mike’s Subs in the Midtown Promenade close doors.

Midtown has recently seen the closing of a pair of sub sandwich shops with the recent exits of Firehouse Subs and Jersey Mike’s Subs. Firehouse Subs was located at 860 Peachtree Street at the Spire Condominiums. Its signage was removed late last week, while the windows are currently covered in brown paper. It followed the shuttering of Jersey Mike’s Subs in the Midtown Promenade shopping center at 931 Monroe Drive. Operated for approximately a decade, Jersey Mike’s closed within the last two weeks according to several employees at neighboring restaurants. A message was left Tuesday with the Jersey Mike’s corporate office seeking further comment. Of course, there’s no shortage of restaurants to order up a tasty sandwich in Midtown. Still, …

Patch Pic of the Day

Look what's up at Peachtree & 11th

A pair of new restaurants are busy with construction and targeting autumn openings across the street from each other in Midtown.

There’s been much action at the intersection of Peachtree and 11th streets these days and that’s where we stop by for our Midtown Patch Picture of the Day. It will replace the Brookwood location (1845 Peachtree Road) that has been open for almost 25 years. The Atlanta-based European coffeehouse is reported to be targeting a November opening. Café Intermezzo offers more than 100 different tortes, tarts, cakes, pies and cheesecakes; scores of coffee beverages and other beverages with and without alcohol. Across the street on the northwest corner…
