Where to get out and about on Christmas Day

The traditional Dec. 25 activity of Chinese food and a movie works in Midtown. So does a Piedmont Park horse ride.

The traditional Dec. 25 activity of Chinese food and a movie works in Midtown. So does a Piedmont Park horse ride. Start with a matinee at Midtown Art Cinema, Plaza Theatre or Regal Atlantic Station. They're showing more than 20 movies altogether. MuLan and Spice Market and  will be open for supper.  After dining, the horses are on duty Christmas Day at Piedmont Park's Season of Magic. From 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., horse-drawn carriage rides leave every 10 minutes from Magnolia Hall (that's just behind the Atlanta Botanical Garden). The carousel stays in place, in the north end of the Park. Top it off with bowling. Midtown Bowl is open Christmas Day from 5 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.
