Grady seniors named National Merit semifinalists

Semifinalists named in each year's Merit Scholarship competition show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

By Patch Staff Six Grady High School seniors were among 16,000 semifinalists named this week in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented students will to continue in the competition for approximately 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next year. The six Grady honorees are: Konadu Amoakuh, Troy Kleber, Olivia Kleinman, Jennifer Moody, Isabelle Taft, and Patrick Wise. Henry Grady Students Contend For National Scholarships

The scholarships are being awarded by the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Seven Henry W. Grady High School students have been named semifinalists in the 48th annual National Achievement Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The students are Eloisa O. Cleveland; Chantil B. Coleman; Brandon S. Edmondson; Maragh S. Girvan; Camille R. Harris; Krysten A. Taylor; and Jamil D. Williams. Approximately 800 scholarships, worth more than $2.5 million, will be offered next spring. Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 80 percent of semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a scholarship.
