Thomas Mullen will discuss his recently released novel, "The Revisionist," Thursday night at the Midtown facility.
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) presents the “Ivy Hall Writer’s Series,” on Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 28, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Each event will include a lecture and book signing held at Midtown's Ivy Hall by celebrated authors: Thomas Mullen, Richard Ford and Calvin Ramsey. Ivy Hall is located at 179 Ponce de Leon Avenue. Orginally built 1883, Ivy Hall re-opened as the SCAD Writing Center in October 2008. On Thursday, Jan. 31, Mullen, who was awarded “Best Debut Novel of 2006” by USA Today for his first authorship, “The Last Town on Earth,” will discuss recently released novel, "The Revisionist," which Publisher's weekly calls an “excellent thriller." Social critic and best-selling author will be discussing her latest book, "Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art from Egypt to Star Wars."
Camille Paglia, esteemed social critic and best-selling author of "Sexual Personae and Break, Blow, Burn," presents her latest foray into the world of Western art with "Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art from Egypt to Star Wars." From Queen Nefertari's ancient tomb to George Lucas's "Revenge of the Sith," Paglia examines more than two dozen paintings, sculptures, architectural styles, performance pieces, and digital art work that have influenced what and how we see. Fashion designer Isabel Toledo and artist Ruben Toledo have been named honorary chairs of the SCAD Seen Gala in Atlanta on May 23. As the premier fundraiser for SCAD Atlanta, the evening will feature a silent auction of original artwork and a one-of-a-kind fashion showcase from the university’s student designers. All proceeds from the evening go to the university's scholarship fund, which supports both existing and new scholarships. SCAD has enjoyed a meaningful friendship with the pair since they were presented with an André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award at the university’s annual fashion show in 2009.
