Armed robbery, carjacking occurred outside the Northside Tavern on Howell Mill Road.
Atlanta Police investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects in an armed robbery and carjacking that occurred two weeks ago outside the westside’s Northside Tavern at 1058 Howell Mill Road. The APD has released composite sketches of the suspects, who reportedly robbed a West End man and a Virginia Highland woman as they exited the club during the early morning hours of July 28. The incident is the latest in a series of armed robberies and attempted crimes on the westside near Howell Mill and Brady Avenue. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) has selected four key areas in the city, including the Peachtree Street corridor in Midtown, for a strategic, 60-day crime suppression detail that began Thursday, Aug. 2 and is made possible with federal Justice Assistance Grant money. A portion of the $500,000 received through the grant will go towards officer overtime, allowing the Department to increase its resources and personnel in the evenings and overnights, from Aug. 2-Oct. 1. West Midtown businesses taking steps to increase the safety of the community
Residents and businesses along the westside off Howell Mill Road are becoming increasingly concerned about brazen crime in their neighborhood. Twice this month, patrons just outside of Northside Tavern, located at 1058 Howell Mill at the intersection of Brady Avenue, have encountered alleged thieves. On July 1, 64-year-old Sandra Richardson was robbed at gunpoint as she exited the longtime music establishment. She had just approached her vehicle when a car pulled up and out popped a man from the rear passenger seat with a handgun. Then on the evening of Tuesday, July 10, a male patron left the club to find a pair of male suspects attempting to steal the stereo from his car parked on Brady. Late Sunday night incident just the latest in a series of armed robberies in West Midtown
Sandra Richardson almost always asks to be escorted to her car when she is ready to leave an establishment at night. But Sunday evening was different and a pair of thieves were waiting for her when she left West Midtown’s Northside Tavern alone shortly before midnight. The 64-year-old Richardson had been photographing musicians in the blues club located at 1058 Howell Mill Road, and was in the process of putting her camera bag in the trunk of her car that was parked at 1077 Brady Avenue. Rapper-actor makes it rain this week at the club; nearby residents and businesses just wish the club would go away
According to a report this week from TMZ, Grammy award-winning rapper Ludacris was doing a little rainmaking in a West Midtown strip club this week. The celebrity news website said Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, was at the "premiere gentleman's club" Diamonds of Atlanta on Wednesday night when he “dropped in excess of $10,000” on dancers. Pictures here show the rapper littering the stage with thousands of dollar bills as bikini-clad dancers adorn the poles. One shot depicts Ludacris propping a bottle of Conjure Cognac, the brand he co-founded three years ago, on a tray of stacked one dollar bills. Two men are now in Atlanta Police Department custody after a bank robbery Wednesday morning in the Underwood Hills community near the cusp of West Midtown and South Buckhead. According to the APD, at approximately 9:23 a.m., several citizens were at the SunTrust bank located at 1221 Chattahoochee Ave., attempting to go in and conduct their business with the bank. It was then that they noticed two people outside the bank with masks on. The citizens called 911 to report the two men may be attempting to rob the bank and APD Zone 2 units were dispatched to the scene. Incident occurred early Thursday morning near Diamonds of Atlanta
Five people were robbed after leaving a West Midtown strip club early Thursday morning. According to the Atlanta Police, the four women and one man were met by two suspects, one whom was carrying a gun, after leaving Diamonds of Atlanta around 3:30 a.m. The club is located at 1271 Marietta Boulevard. The victims had parked their cars on nearby Elaine Avenue and that’s where they were accosted by the suspects. The victims were robbed of cell phones, wallets, money and car keys. No was injured according to police investigators and no suspects have been named.

A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible
Atlanta Police investigators and Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta are asking the public for information on a sexual assault. On April 29, the victim was attending Opera nightclub located at 1150 Peachtree Street when she was approached possibly by a Middle Eastern or Russian descent male with an accent. The man offered a ride to her hotel and the victim agreed to go along. According to police investigators, the victim states the suspect drove her around for a while and then pulled onto Trabert Avenue in West Midtown. While there in an industrial area, he got into the passenger seat with her and sexually assaulted her. According to notes from the Atlanta Police Department’s 911 Call for Service, a woman was a victim of an armed robbery Thursday afternoon in West Midtown. According to incident data, APD received a call concerning an alleged pedestrian robbery at approximately 2:45 p.m. at 1040 Huff Road between Marietta Boulevard and Howell Mill Road. Alexan MetroWest Apartments is listed for that address. On scene, APD notes reveal the victim advised that a man with a gun in hand approached her in a parking garage and robbed her of a wallet and cell phone.
