Thieves break into westside interior design company and next door restaurant early Wednesday morning.
For the second time this month, smash-and-grab thieves wreaked havoc on the westside’s Huff Road. According to the Atlanta police, both Interiors by Consignment and Urban pL8 at 1082 Huff Road had their storefronts smashed early Wednesday shortly after 1 a.m. Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee said the front door of Urban pL8 in suite C was busted with a large rock and the cash register was taken. Next door in suite D, the front door of Interiors by Consignment was also busted, but it is undetermined if anything was taken. According to Chafee, an off-duty officer who lives in the area told responding officers that he heard glass breaking and later saw three males run from one of the businesses and speed off in a black Jeep Cherokee. Suspects repeatedly attempted to run over the ATM inside the West Midtown Corner Tavern before neighbors made noises, prompting the three men to flee the scene on foot without stealing anything.
Less than a month after a Midtown package store was victimized when thieves utilized a vehicle to conduct a destructive smash-and-grab, a westside restaurant suffered a similar fate on Tuesday morning. Around 6:45 a.m., Atlanta police responded to a call at the West Midtown Corner Tavern after would-be thieves smashed a stolen dark sedan through the front door of the eatery located at 1133 Huff Road. The suspects repeatedly attempted to run over the ATM in the restaurant before neighbors made noises, prompting the three black male suspects to flee the scene on foot without stealing anything. Thieves smash window and steal cash register at popular westside restaurant that is back open for business and giving away a free lunch today.
All has been good for the westside’s Bone Lick BBQ since its mid-August opening. That is until the early morning hours Friday when burglars smashed a large glass pane with a rock to break into owner/chef Mike LaSage’s 2,700-square foot restaurant located at 1133 Huff Road at Apex West Midtown. According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, the thieves stole a cash register and an ATM was also damaged inside the eatery. The cash register was later found on the eastside of at Atlanta at the Maynard Terrace exit ramp off Interstate 20. Thirteen-year-old boy alone in a westside Atlanta apartment off Northside Drive when two armed men broke in late Sunday afternoon looking for “where the weed” was located.
An armed robbery attempt at a westside apartment late Sunday afternoon resulted in the inhabitant being arrested on marijuana charges. According to Atlanta Police Department spokesman John Chafee, at around 5:30 p.m., two suspects approached an apartment located in the 500 block of Northside Circle in the Loring Heights neighborhood. A 13-year-old boy was alone at his uncle’s apartment residence at the Hartford Place apartments when the two suspects entered the residence through an unlocked rear door. Pointing a handgun at the young teenager, the suspects asked the boy “where the weed” was according to Chafee. Burglars use sledgehammer to break through a double brick wall in order to haul off with 181 spools of wire from Northside Drive's City Electric Supply.
A westside Atlanta business that sells electrical equipment wholesale was the recent victim of one of the city’s largest copper wire heists. During the two-day crime committed during the weekend of Nov. 3-4, thieves managed to sledgehammer their way through a double brick wall and make off with 181 spools of wire from City Electric Supply. According to a police report, a City Electric Supply manager said that on Saturday, Nov. 3, thieves managed to crawl under a fence at the rear of the property located at 1450 Northside Drive. After using a pole to push a surveillance camera upward, they blasted open a 4x3 foot hole in a double brick wall to gain entry into the business. Recent armed robberies and carjacking outside the Northside Tavern prompts owner to install new lighting and cameras high in the sky surrounding the exterior of the popular blues club.
A new week is upon us and we’ll celebrate such with another Midtown Patch Pic of the Day. Today we’re on the westside at the corner of Howell Mill Road and Brady Avenue. This is at the Northside Tavern (1058 Howell Mill Rd), where in a recent weeks there have been a series of armed robberies and attempted crimes executed against patrons exiting the blues club. Last week, Atlanta police released composite sketches of the suspects reportedly involved in a recent carjacking in the area. The recent crime wave prompted Northside Tavern owner Ellyn Webb to install new lighting and cameras high in the sky surrounding the exterior of the popular blues club in an effort to let would-be criminals know they’re being watched.

Armed robbery, carjacking occurred outside the Northside Tavern on Howell Mill Road.
Atlanta Police investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects in an armed robbery and carjacking that occurred two weeks ago outside the westside’s Northside Tavern at 1058 Howell Mill Road. The APD has released composite sketches of the suspects, who reportedly robbed a West End man and a Virginia Highland woman as they exited the club during the early morning hours of July 28. The incident is the latest in a series of armed robberies and attempted crimes on the westside near Howell Mill and Brady Avenue.
