Midtown Restaurants Coming: Chicken, Pizza & What?

Zaxby’s and Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint reportedly readying to open in the Midtown area in 2013.

The final day of 2012 saw E-Six Lab close its doors after 33 years of business. But it looks like the westside commercial space where the film development business was housed could soon be transformed into a new restaurant. An application recently filed with the city for the space at 678 10th Street has an applicant seeking to reduce the on-site parking from 40 spaces to 20 on-site spaces to allow for "the conversion of the existing structure to an eat/drink establishment." The building is located between Howell Mill Road and Northside Drive across the street from the Atlanta Humane Society. Bone Lick BBQ Licks Wounds after Friday Morning Smash and Grab

Thieves smash window and steal cash register at popular westside restaurant that is back open for business and giving away a free lunch today.

All has been good for the westside’s Bone Lick BBQ since its mid-August opening. That is until the early morning hours Friday when burglars smashed a large glass pane with a rock to break into owner/chef Mike LaSage’s 2,700-square foot restaurant located at 1133 Huff Road at Apex West Midtown. According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, the thieves stole a cash register and an ATM was also damaged inside the eatery. The cash register was later found on the eastside of at Atlanta at the Maynard Terrace exit ramp off Interstate 20. Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano Opens Thursday

Antico Pizza Napoletana's Giovanni Di Palma brings his Italian flavored takeout chicken to the westside of town.

Staff Report Have dinner plans Thursday night? If not, you might want to consider some bird as Giovanni Di Palma, of Antico Pizza Napoletana fame, continues his Little Italy-like takeover of Hemphill Avenue on the westside with tonight's opening of Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano. Like Antico, Gio’s will begin as a takeout-only operation, offering signature Italian chicken dishes like the world-famous Sorrento Lemon Chicken, highlighting flavors typical of the Amalfi Coast area around Naples, Italy. Gio’s will open at 5 p.m. and will close when the truck full of Bell & Evans chickens is empty. Midtown Restaurant Roundup

Little Azio on the Midtown Mile will reportedly close its doors in December.

The 2012 holiday season is officially underway and that means food and lots of it. So, what better excuse than to take a quick peek at Midtown restaurant and food news as we prepare to indulge this holiday season? Up first is a report from Eater Atlanta that the Little Azio on the Midtown Mile will close its doors next month and be replaced by the sandwich shop, Villains. Eater reports that Little Azio, located at 903 Peachtree Street, will close on December 15 and soon after be replaced by the hero sandwich concept. _______ Little Azio isn’t the only Midtown eatery saying bye-bye as 5th Street Ribs and Blues, located at 86 5th Street, recently closed its doors after nine years on Tech Square.
