Don’t Miss Food Truck Tuesday at Grady High School. The trucks will be located at Grady High's 10th Street Parking Lot on Tuesday, May 14th from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. According to the most recent Grady Gram, the Grady High family is looking forward to a sampling of great food and desserts at this year's Food Truck event! You need to eat and the teachers need supplies - so it’s a win-win. All money raised at Food Truck Tuesday will fund supplies for Grady classroom teachers.  Stay and enjoy the Grady cluster jazz bands at 7:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend the events!   Can’t make it Tuesday, but would like to contribute? Grady High School Student Named Carson Scholar

The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. was founded in 1994 to address the education crisis in the United States.

Twenty Atlanta Public Schools students, including one from Grady High School, were named Carson Fund Scholars. The students will each receive $1,000 college scholarships. The fund is named after Benjamin S. Carson, the famed Johns Hopkins Pediatric neurosurgeon, and his wife, Candy. They founded the funded in 1994 after reading a study that showed the United States ranked 21st out of 22 nations in science and mathematics. Since then, the fund has awarded scholarships to students in grades 4 to 11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. The Grady student named as scholars is: Since 2002, the Carson Scholars Fund has recognized more than 400 students in the Southeast.

Grady High Students Named Gates Millennium Scholars

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program, part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, picks 1,000 students every year who receive scholarships to use at a university or college of their choice.

Fourteen high school students from Atlanta Public Schools, including two from Grady High School, were named Gates Millennium Scholars. The two Grady High School students named were Mezmure Dargie and Sanjida Mowla. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program, part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, picks 1,000 students every year who receive scholarships to use at a university or college of their choice. Grady High and Starbucks Want You To Join Saturday's Day of Service - Project Together

The service work will include painting, light, medium and high remodel work, cleaning, debris removal, landscaping and clean up.

Hi Grady HS Neighbors, Parents, Students, and Supporters, Come volunteer THIS Saturday at Grady HS.  It’s great for entire families, as there are activities for the kids!  Even if you can only give a few hours, it will make our community stronger and better!   PROJECT TOGETHER, our work day with Starbucks, is right around the corner and we need all hands on deck for the day to be a success! Grady High School Slips in National, State Rankings

Last year it ranked 19th statewide.

One of the best schools in the nation is right in our own backyard. But it's not Grady High School, according to U.S. News and World Report. The Midtown-based Atlanta Public School, which draws students from that neighborhood, as well as Virginia-Highland, Poncey-Highland, Inman Park, Candler Park and Old Fourth Ward, ranked 19th statewide and No. 1,204 in the nation. But the school tumbled out of ranking contention on both fronts. To be sure, Grady is among APS' better high schools. But none of the high schools that comprise APS were ranked nationally or among the state's best schools, including North Atlanta High School, based on the magazine's findings. Volunteers Needed for Community Service Project at Grady High School

Organizers are looking for 700 volunteers, according to Starbucks.

Starbucks Coffee Company, Kids & Pros and Grady High School will have a community service event at the high school, 929 Charles Allen Drive NE, on April 27, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., according to Starbucks' community web page. The organizers would like to have 700 volunteers to clean up, paint, landscaping and more. Length of commitment for volunteers is four hours. Register online and get more information.

Grady High School Bus Accident Injures Eight

Taxi driver may have been at fault.

An accident between a taxi van and an Atlanta Public Schools bus sent eight Grady High School students to the hospital, Monday. The accident occured on Capitol Avenue close to the I-20 exit ramp, CBS Atlanta News 46 reported. The students, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Police told the news station the taxi driver pulled out in front of the school bus when the traffic signal changed.

CINS’ Annual Grady Cluster of Schools Showcase Wednesday

Wednesday night at Inman Middle School, the Council of Intown Neighborhoods and Schools will recognize the Grady cluster teachers who received CINS’ grant funding this year.

Please join the Council of Intown Neighborhoods and Schools (CINS) at its annual Schools Showcase where it will recognize the Grady cluster teachers who received CINS’ grant funding this year.  The showcase will take place on Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Inman Middle School, located at 774 Virginia Avenue. There will be presentations from some of the teachers who received grant funding on how they used their grant funds to impact student education and growth in their classrooms.  This is the 29th year that CINS has awarded grant funds to teachers serving the Grady Cluster.
