Metro Atlanta’s unemployment rate drops to 8.2 percent in October
The jobless rates for both the state and metro Atlanta area still trail the current national unemployment rate of 7.9 percent.
Staff Report The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) announced Thursday that the preliminary unemployment rate in metro Atlanta declined to 8.2 percent in October, down one-tenth of a percentage point from 8.3 percent in September. The rate was 9.4 percent in October 2011. Last week, GDOL announced that Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 8.7 percent in October, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 9.0 percent in September. The state jobless rate was 9.7 percent in October a year ago. The jobless rates in October for both the state and metro area still trail the current national rate of 7.9 percent.
