Poncey-Highland shooting victim remembered as 'good man with a kind heart'

Monday murder of a former Grady High student outside a Ponce de Leon Avenue apartment complex comes as transitioning area continues to try to distance itself from a reputation as being a home for criminal activity

On Tuesday while area residents were left speculating as to why a local man was gunned down Monday afternoon outside a Poncey-Highland apartment complex, others were left still believing the Ponce de Leon Avenue corridor will succeed in its evolving urban gentrification in the face of some recent violent crime. Lee Lowery III was shot and killed by a lone gunman shortly after 5 p.m. Monday while attempting to visit the Ford Factory Lofts, located in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood next to the Ponce City Market development. Report: Man Arrested in Connection to Virginia-Highland Robbery

WSBTV reports one man arrested

Atlanta Police have arrested one man in connection with an armed robbery last month in Virginia-Highland, according to a WSBTV report. Police told WSB that Roy Latimore, who also uses the name Dewon Pitts, was arrested on Tuesday "for another armed robbery in northeast Atlanta." More from WSB: Investigators compared his mug shot to a composite sketch developed based on descriptions provided by the female victims in a North Highland Avenue attack. Surveillance video from a Citgo gas station on Boulevard showed men in a gold minivan using the women's stolen credit cards to buy gas.
