ReplyAny information on the other man that was missing? There were three of them and two have been found. I don't think I've seen anything about the other one.

I know that illnesses don't care who you are or how old you are. I was stating more of an opinion about how it was awful that a 69-year-old has alzheimers

ReplyOh, I'm so sorry for the family of Jmaal. I'm not even going to say it's better to have closure, because in this situation it probably isn't. Nothing can make this any better.

ReplyHow about the 96% increase in the cost to renovate Argyle Elementary School? And $3M+ for Baker Elementary School? All these kids need is safety and comfort. Not luxuries.

ReplyI asked the manager of a hotel years ago why they put Bibles in the nightstands. He said they didn't, that groups asked if they could put them there and the hotels said okay. This is not about religion. This is about private property being left in a place that people are renting or just paying to stay a night or two. If you left a robe or a pair of slippers or a James Patterson book, would they leave those items in the room? I doubt it very seriously. The Bible in the nightstand needs to be regarded in the same manner as other personal property. If you are a true Christian, you don't need that Bible. Carry your own when you travel. If you leave it in a hotel room, on the bed or some other open space, it would be removed. When Governor Deal said to put the Bibles back, he crossed the line of church and state.

The Bibles were not put there by government employees. They were left by private citizens, apparently.

I'm not talking about the Bible in the drawer pushing its beliefs on me. I'm talking about the people coming to my door. I'm saying the Bibles in the drawers are left there by private citizens and should be considered abandoned property and therefore removed.

I was not talking about the Bible in the drawing pushing its beliefs on anybody else. I was talking about the people coming to my door. How about just addressing the rest of my comment instead of the last sentence.

ReplyThis is so sad. Apparently she thought she had enough time to turn. We see it every day. As I've gotten older, I try not to "tempt fate". I hope her son recovers physically and mentally from this.

You know, if you are old enough, it was commonplace to see Bibles in hotel room nightstands for years. I thought nothing of it. On the other hand, if there had been Jehovah's Witness or 7th Day Adventist material in the nightstand, I may have said something. That is why I believe that all religious material should be taken out of hotels, motels, and cabins. The rooms should give you only what you really need to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Especially the state-owned properties.
