Theater of the Stars Cancels 2013-2014 Season

The company says it tried hard to find a way to present the season.

Theater of the Stars has made the difficult decision to cancel its 2013-2014 season.

A media advisory Thursday about the decision reads:

It is with much regret that Theater of theStars announces that the 2013-14 season has been canceled in full. The company’s financial position has forced the organization to cancel Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Cats, in what was to be their 61st season. After exhausting every avenue possible to present this season, the continued effects of a slow economy and the financial results of last years' season precludes the organization from having the resources to mount the current season’s productions. Information is forthcoming as the Staff and Board of Directors are working hard to determine next steps.

On Theater of the Stars' Facebook page, people shared their thoughts about the news:

"I am saddened to see this happen to such a wonderful institution as TOTS. They have entertained me for over 13 years. Their staff is the best - I love the personal attention you receive when you call. I hope it's not the end of TOTS - just a bump in the road and they will be back next season." - Lydia Price Nisenson

"It has been a LIFE LONG DREAM to see the little mermaid on stage since age three for me. And finally it was going to be right in my neighborhood during my birthday month. I am soooo sad that it's not coming. If i was rich, i would give you all the money you needed to finish your season because the shows you chose were amazing. I hope one day you all are able to pick back up and have TLM on stage. best of luck and best wishes to theatre of the stars." - Ashley McKoy
