Over 15,000 at Atlantic Station this Weekend to Fight Heart Disease and Stroke

The following is a public press release from The Atlanta Heart Walk organization:

WHAT:
More than 15,000 Atlanta area residents will walk Saturday, October 12, 2013 to improve their heart health and raise money to fight heart disease and stroke, America’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers.

Local company and community teams, heart disease survivors, friends and family members of all ages will gather at Atlantic Station to walk or run a non-competitive, 5K (3.2 mile) route in honor of their loved ones, and in support of the cause.  Money raised goes directly to funding the research and programming needed to prevent and treat these diseases.  For more information – www.atlantaheartwalk.org or www.heart.org/Atlanta

Last year, more than 1 million walkers raised more than $106 million in 425 Heart Walks across the country.  The event is part of the Metro Atlanta American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. campaign, a comprehensive health, wellness and fitness initiative that will encourage embracing an overall healthier lifestyle to improve cardiovascular health in the Atlanta community.
