AOL and Wholesome Wave Join Naked Juice to Help Provide Healthy Foods To Underserved

In a press release, Midtown Patch has learned that three large companies are teaming up in Buckhead to, "help provide underserved communities access to fresh fruits and vegetables through a text-to-give and tweet-to-give program."

According to the written statement, on Saturday, October 19th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., representatives from Wholesome Wave will be on hand at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market to discuss the collaboration with Naked Juice, and the market’s impact on the local community.

In addition to the vital information and usual market activities, celebrity Chef Sam Talbot  will be on hand to demo some fun recipes and there will also be local artists working to create three mobile murals on market vendors’ trucks to show support for the local communities and offer a mobile keepsake at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market.  Chef Nick Melvin will also perform cooking demonstrations for local shoppers and will share quick and easy ways to prepare healthy meals with fresh produce.

The collaboration between Naked Juice and Wholesome Wave because, Naked Juice wants to ensure "everyone can have access to good stuff – fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables.  So they are teaming up with Wholesome Wave, a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving affordable access to fresh local produce in undeserved urban and rural communities across America. Through Wholesome Wave’s Double Value Coupon Program, Atlanta residents gain incentives to buy fresh produce. In 2012, 70% of LINK customers shopped at Farmers Market because of the program. Naked has donated a total of 150,000 pounds worth of produce to Wholesome Wave.
